Training Program This section covers the general objectives of training and the core adult internal medicine disciplines with which all trainees should be familiar. This is an outline for the acquisition of knowledge and skills, and should not be regarded as an all-inclusive mandatory curriculum since no curriculum is ever static. The training program and the Examination must take into account the evolving nature of medicine as a discipline and the changes in technology and practice that impact upon it. The curriculum outlined below is provided under General Objectives and Core Adult Medicine Disciplines. This division is reflected in advanced training under the headings of Generic Skills and Vocational Skills.
General
Objectives These attributes cannot be defined simply as a list of factual knowledge or practical skills or competencies, as many of the objectives are related to abstract qualities, including attitudes. However, within the following objectives, a high level of factual knowledge is required to enable appropriate competency to be achieved.
