Joint Specialist Advisory Committee in Immunology/Allergy (JSAC). The diagnosis and management of diseases affecting the immune system. Training in clinical
immunology and allergy may lead to practice in one of three categories:
Trainees for the FRCPA (joint or separate programs) should obtain information regarding supervision and examination requirements from the Registrar of the RCPA Board of Censors. As a basis for advanced training in clinical and laboratory immunology, the trainee must acquire a detailed fundamental understanding of human immunology including the structure and function of the cellular and humoral components of the immune system; the types of tissue injury mediated by immunological and inflammatory mediators such as cytokines, complement components etc; and the mechanisms involved in the generation and control of immune responses to foreign proteins, allergens, micro organisms and autoantigens.
