Monday 14 May 2001
Two-hour Walking Tour of Historic Macquarie Street

This was once Sydney's finest street which was lined with elegant Regency and Georgian houses. Sad to say there are now only four houses left, nevertheless the street has an elegance despite the changes. It is home to the Law, Medicine (RACP), the Parliament, the Royal Botanic Gardens, the State Library, Sydney's oldest Church and a fine Barracks that was built to house convicts. On a leisurely stroll you will hear much about the early days of the Colony of NSW, the story of Governor Macquarie and visit some of the buildings mentioned.
Cost per person: $35
Includes: guide, morning tea
Time: 9.30-11.30am

Paddington/Woollahra Tour
Coach from the hotel to the suburb of Paddington, a short distance from the city, to stroll around the original village of the 1840s. Some of the early, tiny houses are still to be seen - today they fetch high prices in this sought after area. A visit to the Hogarth Gallery of Aboriginal Art tucked away in a narrow lane and from there by coach to Queen Street to explore the architecture and the many antique shops along this elegant street. There are two food providers whose establishments must be visited - Simon Johnson and Jones the Grocer, where a coffee stop is de rigueur. Coach return to the Convention Centre.
Cost per person: $60
Includes: coach, guide, visits and coffee
Time: 9.00am-12.30pm

Tuesday 15 May 2001
Two-hour Walking Tour of the Rocks

Join a walking tour and discover how the area got its name and who named it. There are narrow alleyways and lanes, cobblestones, steps and stairs and houses dating from the early 19th C, old warehouses, an Observatory, and Pubs in the rocks. Visit a delightful puppet shop in a worker's cottage, and stroll to Observatory Hill for views of the Parramatta River. At the National Trust Centre Shop you will have an opportunity to see good quality Australiana which may help with the "presents to take home" problem.
Cost per person: $60
Includes: coach, guide, afternoon tea/coffee
Time: 1.00-4.00pm

Westin Hotel Tour
The Hotel opened in September 1999. The building originally was the General Post Office, which was completed in September 1874 - the opening occurred 125 years to the day of the first opening. The GPO is possibly Sydney's finest building and the conversion to a hotel has been superbly done by heritage architects. On this tour we explore both the interior and exterior of the building as the exterior carvings are particularly special and caused a great scandal in their day. Afternoon tea is served in the grand courtyard of the Hotel.
Cost per person: $38
Includes: guide, afternoon tea/coffee
Time: 2.00-4.00pm
