New format
Monday will be a "Skills Day" with topics of interest to all physicians.
On Tuesday and Wednesday you will be able to choose from a wide range of scientific sessions in Adult Medicine, Paediatrics and Child Health, Public Health, and Occupational Medicine.

Bonus Sunday session
Broadcaster and historian, Jim Leavesley will present Artistic creativity in medicine at a free session (partners welcome) on Sunday afternoon in The Grand Chancellor. See Bonus Sunday Session.

Pre-conference workshops
Three workshops will be run on Sunday, 25 May. Numbers are strictly limited and an additional fee is payable.
1. Doctor-patient communication to enhance health outcomes

2. Difficult doctor-patient relationships
3. Managing the Media (interview techniques)


Big Breakfast
The ASM will open with the Big Breakfast on Monday morning at the Grand Chancellor. The Big Breakfast is included in the registration fee, and replaces the traditional Welcome Drinks, usually held on Sunday evening. So come early, register and enjoy a leisurely breakfast before the ASM begins.
 

Partner Registration
There is a partner's program for this year.
The partner registration fee includes the Monday sessions: Greenaway Memorial Lecture; Is There Life After Work? Retiring Happy; History of Medicine Lecture, and the Big Breakfast, morning tea and lunch.
 

Farewell drinks
Farewell drinks will be held on Wednesday afternoon, 5.30 - 6.30 pm in the Grand Chancellor.
Attendance at this event has been included in the registration fee.
 

Three venues
The ASM will be held in three venues this year in Hobart:
- The Hotel Grand Chancellor
- The Old Woolstore
- Hobart Function and Conference Centre
 




Joint meeting with the Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine
The Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine's Conference, Rehabilitation in the Decade of Bone & Joint, immediately precedes the ASM, and is being held in the Grand Chancellor. For the first time, the two groups will meet together on Monday 26 May.

AFRM conference: Friday 23 - Monday 26 May 2003
RACP conference: Monday 26 - Wednesday 28 May 2003

A special 5 day registration fee is available for delegates who wish to attend both Meetings.

Childcare
College-subsidised childcare will be available on site, provided by the Lipscombe Child Care Service Inc. Places are limited and bookings must be made with the childcare provider by 28 March, 2003.

Call for abstracts
Deadline for submission is: 5.00pm, Monday, 20 January, 2002.
Fellows and trainees are invited to submit abstracts of their research for consideration for oral or poster presentation or for ASM Awards. For information or to submit online, see the Abstracts section.

MOPS Points
The ASM is recognised as an accredited meeting for the RACP's Maintenance of Professional Standards program (MOPS) and for the continuing education and recertification program of the Faculties and Special Societies.
Points per hour :   - Keypad sessions: 2    - All other sessions: 0.5
 
Maximum points allowed for the ASM: 20
