The Clinical Support Systems Program (CSSP) is a joint
initiative of The Royal Australasian College of Physicians
(RACP) and the Commonwealth Department of Health and
Ageing that sought to facilitate the routine uptake of
evidence within clinical practice through the implementation
of the Clinical Support System (CSS) model.
The formal (funded) phase of three of the pilot sites
has ended (see Completed
Projects). The fourth, the
TASC (Towards a Safer Culture) project, is being implemented
in 29 hospitals across NSW and 3 hospitals in Western
Australia (see New Projects).
Queensland Health is developing generic systems for
measurement and change in hospital care by building
on the CSSP experience. Various permutations or hybrids
of the CSSP are being developed around Australia.
This section of the website outlines the program and
the consortia involved and provides information on
the outcomes, results and the lessons learned.

The CSSP is a joint initiative of the Royal Australasian
College of Physicians and the Commonwealth Department
of Health and Ageing with funding support from the
Victorian Department of Human Services and NSW Health.
