Description

A vacancy has arisen on the Faculty Training Committee (FTC) in Occupational and Environmental Medicine (OEM) for a regional Training Program Director of Western Australia (WA), with the position available for immediate commencement.

The FTC oversees The Australasian Faculty of Occupational & Environmental Medicine (AFOEM) training program. This is a great opportunity for Fellows who are willing to support current OEM Advanced Trainees and the training program. In this role, you will help shape the physicians of the future and positively contribute to the direction, workforce and culture of OEM in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.

You will be involved in reviewing and monitoring of the training program requirements, assessment and curricula in consultation with the relevant stakeholders, and recommend changes to the College Education Committee, via the Faculty Education Committee. Main responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

Responsibility to trainees:

  • Manage the operation of the training program within WA.
  • Provide information and advice to prospective trainees regarding prerequisites for entry to the training program.
  • Review and approve training status reports for trainees.
  • Provide guidance to trainees throughout their training on teaching and learning activities, assessments and other program requirements.
  • Liaise with the Education Officer regarding inactive trainees and other trainee matters.

Responsibility to educational supervisors:

  • Hold regular meetings with supervisors to review the progress of trainees.
  • Ensure that supervisors are aware of their roles and provide guidance as necessary.

Other responsibilities:

  • Participate in FTC meetings and teleconferences;
  • Facilitate the Faculty's training objectives at a regional level.

Members are appointed to the ATC for a three-year term and can be renewed for a further term. The Committee meets three times per year via teleconferences.
