Description

The Subcommittee currently has 1 vacancy for a Fellow to join the Basic Training Paediatrics & Child Health Division who is interested in contributing towards discussions and the decision-making process on the Accreditation of a Training Provider (settings) and the Paediatrics & Child Health Basic Training Program.

This is a particularly exciting time to join the Subcommittee following implementation of the new Training Provider Accreditation Program as from 1 January 2021 for all training settings offering Basic Training.

The accreditation of training settings for Paediatrics & Child Health Basic Training is an essential activity that ensures high quality training environments for tomorrow’s Physicians. The Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) and the Paediatrics & Child Health Basic Training Committee are responsible for ensuring that all training is undertaken in accredited training settings, and this is managed by the Paediatrics & Child Health Division Accreditation Subcommittee.

Key responsibilities:

  • attending at least 4 Subcommittee meetings* a year, one of which will be conducted by videoconference.
    *The meetings generally run for approximately 5 hours in total with the first 2 hours allocated for decisions regarding Joint Training Provider accreditation, in collaboration with the Adult Internal Medicine Division.
  • reading time for Agendas and papers, delivered approximately one week before each Subcommittee meeting
  • flexibility and a willingness to support the rollout and implementation of the new accreditation program and accreditation of training settings and its Paediatrics & Child Health Basic Training Program
  • contributing to joint discussion and decision-making on the accreditation of training settings which offer Adult Internal Medicine and Paediatrics & Child Health Basic Training Programs
  • liaising with and being assisted by the Training Accreditation Services team in completing accreditation related activities.

Members are appointed for an initial term of 3 years. Subcommittee members can serve a maximum membership term of 6 years, comprising of two consecutive 3-year terms on the Subcommittee.

The role as a Subcommittee Member is a voluntary position however to support and thank you for your contributions towards Accreditation, you will receive CPD Points for the completed activities. In addition, all relevant travel, meals and accommodation costs for attending face-to-face Subcommittee meetings and any site visits is covered by the College, in accordance with the RACP Travel Policy and Guidelines (PDF).
