To assist Fellows or Trainees of the Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine (AFRM) in furthering their knowledge or professional training in relation to the establishment and conduct of clinical research in projects focused on the areas of neurological rehabilitation, spasticity and pain management.
The Fellowship may be used for costs associated with a specific short-term project, including travel and a short period of study overseas or interstate. Attendance at an overseas conference would not normally be regarded as part of a study. If travel is to the UK or Europe based, a one-day visit to a spasticity clinic can be arranged if desired.
It is expected that the recipient will present their project results at the AFRM Annual Scientific Meeting in the year following the award of the Fellowship.

To assist senior Trainees of the Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine (AFRM) in furthering their knowledge or professional training in relation to the conduct of clinical research in projects focused on the areas of neurological rehabilitation, spasticity and pain management.
The Fellowship may be awarded for research already completed, partly completed or for a proposal for a project yet to commence.
It is expected that the recipient will present their project results at the AFRM Annual Scientific Meeting in the year following the award of the Fellowship.

To facilitate international travel and exchange by a member of the Australasian Sleep Association (ASA) or Australian Sleep Technologists Association (ASTA) to develop skills in sleep research or clinical sleep medicine.
The Scholarship may also be available to a non-ASA or ASTA member residing overseas who wishes to travel to an institution(s) in Australia or New Zealand for a similar purpose, provided the proposed supervisor is an ASA or ASTA member.

Awards available to members of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Nephrology (ANZSN):
This award is sponsored by Novartis Pharmaceuticals and supports travel to an international transplant meeting to present an abstract, or to assist overseas study, research or clinical training related to transplantation.
Up to $A5,000
This award provides travel assistance to young nephrologists at an early stage of their career, who wish to further their careers in nephrological research outside Australia and New Zealand. It is not intended to provide assistance for overseas conferences.

The T.J.Neale Prize is awarded to a member of the ANZSN for outstanding contributions to nephrological science. The award will be made to a candidate who is deemed to have contributed most to the emergence of furtherance of knowledge in a particular field of nephrology. Preference will be given to those candidates who are within 12 years of embarking on their own research programme.
The Award will be made every 2 years.

These are available to attend the Annual Scientific Meeting of ANZSN, postgraduate courses, the American Society of Nephrology (ASN), the International Congress of Nephrology (ICN) and the International Paediatric Nephrology Meeting. (Total value of grants: up to $55,000 annually.)
Several merit Awards are made available each year for those who contribute to the ASM. They include Awards for the best young investigator, a rural practitioners Award, a prize for the best clinical nephrology presentation in addition to best poster Awards.

This prestigious Award recognises researchers who have demonstrated excellence and exceptional contribution in the field of transplantation. Preference will be given to applicants who are within 10 years of embarking on their own research programme either in the field of basic science, clinical research or both. The defining period for assessment will be the postdoctoral research years or a similar independent research period.
The award will be open annually for suitable applicants.

The Presidents Prize is awarded by TSANZ to the best young investigator (under 35 years of age or currently enrolled for a full-time research degree) who is a financial member of the Society at the time the award is being considered, based on a submitted abstract and invited oral presentation in the Presidents Prize Symposium at the Annual Scientific Meeting.
Up to the value of $A2,500 for travel, registration and accommodation to attend a scientific meeting and should be used within two years of winning the prize.
This prize is considered separate from the TSANZ travel awards with different eligibility criteria. There is also an $A500 cash prize.

Up to $5,000 each towards expenses for participation in a major international meeting. Open to Australian or New Zealand ASID members who are studying in Infectious Diseases and/or Microbiology, or medical graduates who have completed training and are now enrolled in research programs leading to a higher degree.
Expenses of up to $A3,000 awarded to physicians or scientists from the Asia Pacific Region - at the invitation of an ASIC full member - to visit centres in Australia or New Zealand or to attend appropriate meetings.
Two awards of up to $2,000 towards expenses for ASID members to attend the ASM at the Darwin Convention Centre, NT, 26-29 May 2010.
Expenses up to $5,000 for advanced trainees to attend an international infectious diseases meeting. Judged on basis of previous year's Project Report submitted to RACP.
Award of $5,000 which is open to Australian and New Zealand citizens who have performed original research in Infectious Diseases, who have been enrolled in or completed an MD or a PhD program in the previous seven years, and are members of ASID.

Advanced Trainee or Fellow of the RACP of less than 5 years standing, who is a member of IMSANZ. Successful applicants will be required to explain how attendance at this meeting will be used to enhance the practice of Internal Medicine and to provide a 1000 word summary of the meeting attended for publication in the IMSANZ newsletter.
To provide support for an Advanced Trainee or younger Fellow to undertake a higher research degree (Masters or PhD) in clinical epidemiology, health services research, quality improvement science or a related field.

The fellowship is a total amount that is paid on a pro rata basis for the duration of enrolment in the research degree.
Advanced Trainee or Fellow of the RACP of less than 5 years standing; membership of IMSANZ; and enrolment in a higher research degree at a University in Australia or New Zealand.
Application Process
Applications will be sought 6 months prior to the annual general meeting of IMSANZ in the year the awards are to be granted. Whether an award will be offered in any particular year will be at the discretion of IMSANZ Council in terms of quality of applications and/or availability of funds. Guidelines for applications will be available from the IMSANZ secretary and will be in accordance with those issued by the RACP Research Advisory Committee.

This award supports travel to attend an approved national or international nuclear medicine meeting. The award is for work that provides new data of clinical and scientific merit and involves the use of nuclear medicine techniques. The data will be presented as an oral paper at the Annual Scientific Meeting of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Nuclear Medicine (ANZSNM). The award is open to advanced trainees in nuclear medicine or full-time registrars in nuclear medicine. Recently qualified trainees may enter, provided that the work for the presentation was carried out during the period of training, and is presented at the first Annual Scientific Meeting of the ANZSNM after completion of training.
