Welcome changes for Advanced Trainees

The College has introduced new submission deadlines, a new process for Advanced Training Research Project (ATRP) exemptions for post-graduate research and coursework undertaken during Advanced Training and extended the time in which Advanced Trainees can apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for ATRP requirements.

Advanced Trainees who commenced training in 2024 are now eligible to apply for RPL in relation to ATRPs within 6 months of commencing their first approved rotation in a RACP training program. RPL applications for all other training requirements are still required to be submitted within 3 months of commencing training. Research completed through your primary medical qualification is not applicable for RPL.

There have also been updates to formally recognised submission dates for ATRPs:

  • 31 March (Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand)
  • 15 June (Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand
  • 15 September (Australia)
  • 15 December (Aotearoa New Zealand)   

RACP Fellows from all Advanced Training Specialties and Faculties are encouraged to nominate to join their respective ATRP reviewer pool. Continuing Professional Development hours can be earnt, and you will be assisting our trainees complete their pathways to Fellowship.
