Guidelines for Advanced Training in Paediatrics

Documentation and Submission of Applications

There are two forms which are completed during each year of training. The first is the Application for Approval of Advanced Training form which must be prepared in cooperation with your supervisor(s) and be counter-signed by your supervisor(s) at the beginning of each year of training. The document is then sent to the SAC/JSAC or training committee for approval and their decision is conveyed to you in due course.

  • For applications received before 15 February, approval of the program for the entire year will be considered
  • For applications received after 15 February and before 31 August, only the training program for the last 6 months of the clinical year will be considered for approval
  • For applications received after 31 August the application for training for that year will not be considered
  • Retrospective accreditation of training periods not prospectively approved can be applied for as described in Retrospective Accreditation.

The Application form is available to download here.

The second document is the Supervisor's Report form, which is completed by the supervisor, co-signed by you and returned to the CPPT or SAC/JSAC. The supervisor will discuss the contents of the report with you before it is sent to the College.
