Guidelines for Advanced Training in PaediatricsDuration and Sites of TrainingAdvanced Training will be of at least 3 years' duration. Many SACs/JSACs divide Advanced Training into core and elective training. Most training programs require two clinical (core) years of training in the particular subspecialty, while the elective year may be spent in a related subspecialty, in research or in further core training. Each training committee provides written guidelines on the requirements for training in their subspecialty. The guidelines are found in this handbook or are available on request from the Training Section of the College.
Paediatric Training Committees strongly encourage experience in more than one department or other sites of training during Advanced Training. Overseas experience is encouraged. Normally at least one year of Advanced Training is carried out in Australia to ensure familiarity with local practices. [ TOP ]
