Guidelines for Advanced Training in PaediatricsAdvanced Training ProjectsAdvanced Training Projects in General Paediatrics are supervised by the Committee of Paediatric Training (CPPT) and those in Paediatric Subspecialties by the relevant SAC/JSAC. A project must be submitted to the CPPT for each year of Advanced Training in General Paediatrics. Projects should represent substantive pieces of scholarly work in each of the three years. Each project is undertaken under supervision, either from your Clinical Supervisor or a separate Project Supervisor. The Supervisor's report must contain a comment on and indicate approval of your written project report or alternatively progress made on the project during the year. You must satisfactorily complete one project before the end of the second year of Advanced Training in order to progress to the third year. This project must be passed by the CPPT in February, that is at the beginning of third year of Advanced Training. This 'second year rule' is now being actively applied by the CPPT. In the unusual circumstance of a project not being submitted by this deadline, the CPPT is willing to accredit the second 6 months of the year (for which you are applying) as the first six months of your third year of advanced training, as long as a project is submitted by 31 May and passed by the CPPT/SAC. With the exception of a thesis, dissertation or other project written for a higher degree, the written project should be at least 2,000 but no more than 5,000 words. Submitted work which exceeds the 5,000 word limit will not be assessed. [ TOP ]
