Guidelines for Advanced Training in Paediatrics

Retrospective Accreditation

The College normally requires training to be approved prospectively. Retrospective accreditation is granted only if you could not reasonably have applied for prospective approval of training.

The CPPT accepts the SACs/JSACs discretion of allowing up to one year to be accredited retrospectively. However, applications for retrospective accreditation can only be approved where you have met the requirements of Basic Training and the FRACP Examination.

Retrospective accreditation of training will only be considered after you have satisfactorily completed one year of prospectively approved training. Periods of less than six months will not be considered.

Retrospective accreditation by an SAC/JSAC or training committee for a period supervised by another SAC, JSAC or training committee can only be considered following accreditation of the training period by the initial supervising body. See the section of Transfer between training Committees.
