Indigenous Health

• A respect for the background and culture of indigenous children and caregivers. This includes ensuring a non-discriminatory attitude when dealing with indigenous people
• The ability to communicate clearly, considerately and sensitively with indigenous people.

Mental Health of Health Professionals

• Recognising stress in yourself and others, and the ability to deal with stress and support medical colleagues and allied health workers
• Recognising when there is a need to seek support or advice from work colleagues.

Rural Health

• Understanding hospital and community-based resources available for children and caregivers in rural areas
• An understanding of population-based needs assessment of health care in rural areas
• Understanding of health service management and health economics in rural areas
• Understanding the use of 'telemedicine' in practising health in rural areas
• An understanding of emergency medical aid
