Registration and Approval of Basic Trainees

Standard Requirements
It is compulsory for you to register as a Basic Trainee from the commencement of the second year of your Basic Training. To do this you are required to complete an Application for Registration as a Basic Trainee form and lodge it with the College at the beginning of each year of Basic Training. On this form you are required to indicate the terms you will be completing during the year and to have the form signed by the DPPT most appropriate to each training period. A fee is payable for each year of registration. Separate fees are payable also for both Written and Clinical Examinations.

Approval of Basic Training

At the time of application to sit for the FRACP Examination, the CPPT will assess your basic training and confirm that it meets the requirements for you to be eligible to sit for the Examination. You are advised to discuss the selection of basic training terms with your DPPT to ensure that these terms are acceptable for accreditation.

Failure to Register

If you have not registered with the College but wish to sit for the FRACP Examination you must apply to the CPPT. Your training will be assessed by the CPPT and you will be notified of the suitability of your training and when you are eligible to attempt the Examination. It is your responsibility to demonstrate that your Basic Training has been satisfactory. Failure to register as a Basic Trainee prior to your application to sit for the examination will incur higher fees. For further information you should contact the Department of Training and Assessment at the College.
