Fellowships Training Program (DFTP) in Paediatrics and Child and Adolescent
Psychiatry
Exemptions
Further details of
the training and examination requirements set out above for Dual Fellowships
trainees are specified in:
- The RANZCP Fellowships Board of Training and Examinations By-Laws
with explanatory notes (1996)
- The RANZCP Committee for Training in Child Psychiatry of the Fellowships
Board
- Guidelines for Training for the Certificate of satisfactory completion
of training in Child Psychiatry (1988); and
- and any subsequent versions of these documents.
In acknowledgement of the prior training and experience of entrants
into the Dual Fellowships Training Program, exemptions may be granted
for the following components of this training program.
Pathway A (from
paediatric stream)
- Six months mandatory training in child and adolescent psychiatry
(By-law 4.2.2, RANZCP)
exemption may be granted following satisfactory completion of the
first six months of the training program in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
- First year Assessment (By-laws 3.2,3.3,3.4,3.5, RANZCP)
- General Medicine Examination (By-law 4.2.7, RANZCP)
- Experience in a sub-specialty of psychiatry (By-law 4.2.4, RANZCP)
This requirement may be satisfied by six months training in child
psychiatry
- Elective year of Training (By-Law 5(b), RANZCP)
On completion of the Section I FRANZCP Examination and 48 months accredited
psychiatric training, DFTP trainees may be exempt from this requirement.
Pathway B (from
psychiatry stream)
- One year of Basic Training
- Two years of Advanced Training
- Two projects.
It is emphasised that
these exemptions are not transferable from the Dual Fellowships Training
Program to the RACP or RANZCP Fellowship Program.
