Other Specific Requirements

There are no specific requirements.

Research

Subject to approval by the SAC, one year may be spent in full-time research as an elective year in a field of relevance to palliative medicine. This period should emphasise the need for understanding and application of appropriate research methodologies.

You should be actively involved in research activities including quality assurance. Experience should be sought in study design; literature research and review; writing submissions for grants; data collection, storage and analysis; and computer program evaluation for results analysis, statistics and graphics. A supervisor's report must be furnished with evidence of satisfactory progress.

Training Posts

As a general principle, Australian trainees who are interested in training overseas are expected to train in positions accredited for specialty or advanced training in palliative medicine by that country.
