About the College Roll
The College Roll is a collection of brief biographies of deceased Fellows of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP). These biographies form in part a history of medical practice in Australasia and beyond. They also form in part a history of a College that is the sum of all its members, past and present.
The College Roll was conceived in 1988, the Golden Jubilee of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, when it was decided to publish a Roll based on the Munk's Roll of the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) of London.
College Roll Volume 1 was edited by Dr Geoffrey McDonald. Under his guidance a brief biography was prepared on all those Fellows who had passed away since the College was established in 1938. It includes biographies of all deceased Fellows for the period 1938-1975.
College Roll Volume 2 was edited by Dr Josephine Wiseman and Dr Richard Mulhearn and published in 1994. It includes biographies of all deceased Fellows for the period 1976-1990.
Printed copies of Volumes 1 and 2 are available upon request.
The College is now providing the College Roll in electronic format. On the College website you now have access to deceased Fellow's biographies and, where available, a photograph. Future biographies will be added as they completed and gradually all previous printed volumes will be available online. The editors of the electronic version of the College Roll are Dr Richard Mulhearn and Dr Bruce Storey.
If you would like further information on the College Roll or would like to be involved with this project please contact the History of Medicine Library on (02) 9256 5433, preferably on Mondays, or email Dianne van Sommers (College Roll Officer) at racplib@racp.edu.au.
