Chapter of Community Child Health
The Chapter of Community Child Health is committed to:
- supporting doctors with expertise or engagement in any or all of the domains of community child health, including child protection, child behaviour and development and child public health and
- promoting the merging of clinical practice with public health and ecological principles.
Members of the Chapter of Community Child Health share a view that a social (interactional, multifactorial, environmental) model of health and prevention is most relevant to contemporary child health issues. This complementary view to traditional paediatric medical care is important and must be sustained in the Paediatrics & Child Health Division.
The Chapter welcomes all doctors with expertise or engagement in Child Protection, Child Development and Child Population Health. It is vital to provide physicians practising in these areas with a sense of collegiality and peer support.
The Chapter is responsive to members' needs by making support and continuing education of Chapter members more central to the function of the Chapter, through its three Special Interest Groups. Advanced Trainees in Community Child Health and those undertaking the joint General Paediatrics/Community Child Health Training program are granted automatic Membership of the Chapter.
