Responsibility to trainees:
- Manage the operation of the training program within their region.
- Provide information and advice to prospective trainees regarding prerequisites for entry to the training
program. - Approve the trainee's personal learning plan at commencement of program.
- Appoint an Educational Supervisor for each trainee.
- Review and endorse all trainees' six-monthly report forms.
- Provide post-examination guidance if necessary.
- Liaise with the Faculty Office regarding inactive trainees or to discuss trainee matters.
- Ensure awareness of changes to the Training Program.
Responsibility to Educational Supervisors:
- Hold regular meetings with Educational Supervisors to review the trainee's progress.
- Ensure that Educational Supervisors are aware of, and fulfil their roles.
- Encourage Educational Supervisors to attend the Annual Training Meeting (ATM - Sunday sessions only) and the Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM).
Other Responsibilities:
- Participate in T&L Subcommittee meetings and teleconference.
- Facilitate the Faculty's training objectives at the regional level.
Remote Area Director of Training
The Remote Area DoT is a member of the T&L Subcommittee with the same responsibilities as other Regional DoTs. However, the Remote Area DoT has the additional challenge of developing and implementing training activities which are suitable and accessible to trainees in remote areas - in particular, regular teleconferences for regional training meetings.
