Fellowship
Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP)
Background
Who is eligible for assessment?
Overseas Trained Physicians or Paediatricians (OTPs) who wish to apply for FRACP and have previously completed an assessment with the RACP either for suitability for an Area of Need position or for assessment for specialist registration via the Australian Medical Council (AMC) are eligible to apply for Fellowship of the College (FRACP). Depending on previous assessment undertaken, the process for applying for FRACP differs. This guide is therefore divided in to two sections:
- Information for OTPs who have previously been assessed for Specialist Registration via the AMC and who have completed the requirements set down by the Board of Censors. (i.e. you have been advised you are eligible for specialist registration);
- Information for OTPs who have previously been assessed for suitability for an Area of Need position and who have completed the required period of practice under peer review.
Please note that there is one other pathway under which assessment for FRACP can be made. That is For OTPs who currently hold unconditional/general registration in Australia. These would be doctors who either completed their undergraduate medical training in Australia (and who then undertook specialist training overseas) or those OTPs who have successfully completed the AMC Examinations. Doctors who wish to apply for FRACP under this category should contact the College’s OTP Assessment Unit for further information.
