Application & Selection

Within Australia, candidates will need to secure an Advanced Training position at an accredited training hospital however, this may vary according to states/regions and or subspecialties.

See 'Co-ordinated Selection of Trainees' for more details about the selection process of each subspecialty within Australia. Where a regional selection process is not in operation, trainees should apply directly to the hospital for an appointment suitable for their selected training program.

Once candidates have been successful in securing a training position, they must apply for approval with the RACP by completing an 'Annual Application for Approval of Advanced Training' prospectively, each year by the relevant deadline.

Important dates for Advanced Training

 

Advanced Training - Australia
15 January -	Project Reports must be received at College (Paediatric trainees only)
15 February -	Closing date for application for prospective approval of current year of training
31 March -	Closing date for application for prospective approval of current year of training for Conditional Advanced Trainees *
31 May -	SAC in General Paediatrics only, closing date for application for prospective approval of second half of current year of training
15 July -	Mid Year Progress Report must be received at the College (Adult Medicine SACs only)
31 August -	Closing date for application for prospective approval of second half of the current year of training.
31 August -	SAC in General Paediatrics only, Project Reports must be received at the College
15 September -	Project Reports must be received at College
15 October -	Final Supervisor's Report must be received at College for those who are due for Fellowship in December.
31 January -	Final Supervisor’s Report must be received at the College for previous year of training. All PREP requirements must be completed for the previous year of training.
