Supervisor Support

Supervision is  fundamental to the success of the College's training programs and to the future of the medical profession. The RACP has created a Supervision Support Strategy, which outlines the principle approaches to be used to improve education and support for supervisors of the College during the period 2012-2016. The six focus areas outlined in the strategy are given below.   Focus area Activities Engagement Engaging, recruiting and communicating with supervisors Policy   Role definition Policy framework to underpin all aspects of supervisor practice Training Face-to-face and online workshops Follow-up support strategies    Support Workshops and events Integrated and accessible resources Rewards and Recognition Supervisor accreditation Rewards and recognition strategy Research and Evaluation Evaluate the strategy components Conduct and publish research   One of the first priorities in this strategy has been to develop the training component, the aim of which is to: create a structured and accessible training program for supervisors to support them in their various roles and responsibilities enhance the educational support offered to trainees.
