The second round of matching will take place in late August. Although one of the aims of the process has been to consolidate matches to a single date (to allow maximum flexibility in preferencing), this has not been possible this year because of timing issues for some SSGs (conferences etc). As a result of this, the ‘Super Match’, will be held on August 28th 2009. The 'Super match' is for trainees wishing to apply for positions in one or more of the following Specialty Groups:
Gastroenterology - Australia wide -for new entrantsNephrology Victoria - New entrants
Applying to more than one match: Applicants can apply across all matches, but if an applicant is successful and recieves a position in an early match they need to withdraw immediately from any other match to which they have applied so as to not effect the result of that match.
For details on how to apply see the bottom of this page.
Each SSG has a coordinator appointed who is responsible for ensuring that the information on the site is correct and for overall coordination of the selection process for that SSG. The contact details of the coordinators are available at the top of this page and are sent in emails to participants when they are registered, for further information about each individual process please contact the relevant coordinator, or for technical difficulties regarding the website, please contact the help desk on 02 9256 9690. The desk is staffed between 8am-8pm Monday-Friday.
Details of the algorithm used for the matching process are available at www.nrmp.org/fellow/algorithm.
If you are considering applying for one of the SSGs listed above you are strongly encouraged to log onto the website via MyTraining, fill in your online CV and request referees reports. You will then be able to ‘register’ for the SSGs that you are interested in, which will allow heads of department to view your CV and referees reports. Once you are registered, you will be able to view position descriptions and begin to preference positions. For some SSGs, you will be asked to nominate up to 5 hospitals at which you would like to be interviewed, and this list will be taken into consideration when deciding which candidates will be interviewed. It is important to note that registration on the RACP website is not a formal application for a position and in some instances (eg all NSW positions), candidates need to put in parallel formal applications (in the case of NSW via the NSW Health website). Trainees should check with the SSG coordinator if they need further information in this regard.
Please note some closing dates of applications vary so please read up on each SSG you are applying for. Also you may be able to change your preferences after applications close, this also varies between specialties so after you select your match, click the icons to read both the process information and timelines carefully.
NOTE: For all NSW Specialty applications, trainees MUST apply to both the MyTraining, AND the NSW Healthjobs website. That is a dual application, so please ensure you apply in BOTH places!
For further information please contact atselection@racp.edu.au or your coordinator directly.
