Continuing Professional Development

MyCPD is the new continuing professional development (CPD) program for Fellows of The Royal Australasian College of Physicians.  This innovative online program, developed in consultation with The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, is tailored to meet the professional development needs of each participant.  The MyCPD program is founded on participants identifying personal professional development needs, planning activities to meet those needs and subsequent reflection on the activities undertaken as part of an ongoing professional development cycle.

Lifelong Learning

MyCPD embraces the concept of lifelong learning, a continual process of reflection and self-assessment and a learner-centred approach which begins with the learner identifying their needs and ensuring the means for change are available. This online user-centred professional development model combines the features of a diary and a learning log into an integrated learning navigator. MyCPD is designed to:

  • ensure that all participants are involved in a range of continuing educational activities directed at enhancing clinical standards throughout   their professional careers so that clinical practice and patient care of the highest quality will continue to be provided

  • demonstrate to patients, one's peers, government bodies and the community at large, that Fellows of The Royal Australasian College of Physicians are committed to programs of continuing medical education and quality assurance

  • develop an approach which supports improvement of the performance of all participants by encouraging them to review, reflect, evaluate and plan continuing professional development activities

  • provide a formalised procedure for participants to demonstrate their participation in professional development activities for purposes such as registration and employment.

The MyCPD program runs on a cycle of calendar years (1 January to 31 December).
