Occupational & Environmental Medicine

The Australasian Faculty of Occupational and Environmental Medicine is the professional organisation committed to establishing and maintaining the standard of training and practice of Occupational Medicine in Australasia. Policy Development 

The Faculty currently has two key policy documents at different stages of development; 'Helping People Return to Work: using evidence for better outcomes', and 'Realising the Health Benefits of Work'.

The policy document 'Helping People Return to Work: using evidence for better outcomes' is in the process of being considered by CPAC for ratification.

The development of a Position Statement on ‘Realising the Health Benefits of Work' is in draft form and being circulated to stakeholders for feedback. Feedback is welcome on the policy document, which is availble here:

Realising the Health Benefits of Work: A Position Statement (PDF 1.08MB)

Specifically, comments are welcome on:

1. What you consider are the most positive aspects of the document;
2. What you consider are the least positive aspects of the document; and
3. What aspects of the document you recommend changing.

All submissions are due by Friday, 12 February 2009.

There are also four position statements currently being developed by the Faculty:

  • Nanotechnology;
  • Drug and alcohol in the workplace;
  • Cancer clusters, and;
  • Pregnancy and work.

Once the draft statements have been completed the Faculty will seek feedback on the documents.
