Before you begin reviewing a manuscript please make sure you have read the Journal's Guidelines for Reviewers.

Manuscript Central

Manuscript Central is the product of an American company ScholarOne, and is used by many Blackwells journals and other medical publishers. On Manuscript Central all users (authors / editors / reviewers / editorial office) can have access to the system 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Manucript Central provides an interface between the Journal's user groups - i.e. authors/referees/editors and the editorial office - facilitating the peer-review process, administration and tracking of manuscripts - from submission to conclusion. Access to the program will be via a standard web browser. Confidentiality at every step will be maintained for authors, reviewers and editors.

Specific features include the following:

  • Authors are required to upload submissions, including graphics, through the website
  • Automatic email correspondence is generated to authors
  • Authors will be able to view manuscript status online at any time
  • Reviewers can access full text and graphics for online review and send comments to the editor
  • Editors will enter decisions through the website for transmission to the editorial office.

We anticipate that the online peer-review system will inspire authors to submit more of their best papers to the IMJ. A major benefit should be streamlining of the passage of a paper through the editorial system and timely publication for those that are accepted.
