Welcome to the AFPHM website

The Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine (AFPHM) is the professional organisation committed to achieving a high standard of population health through:

  1. the practice of public health medicine,
  2. the training and continuing professional development for members,
  3. the promotion of public debate on matters of public health importance, and
  4. the encouragement of public health research.

A Faculty of The Royal Australasian College of Physicians, our members are concerned with:

  1. the health and care of populations,
  2. the promotion of health,
  3. the prevention of disease and illness,
  4. the assessment of a community's health needs, and
  5. the provision of services to communities in general and to specific groups within them.

A Fellow of the Faculty may be a generalist with a broad understanding of many conditions and circumstances, or they may specialise in an area of public health.

This website is designed to provide information and resources for Fellows and trainees of the Faculty, as well as for Doctors who are interested in specialising in Public Health Medicine. The Faculty is committed to providing support to members and future members of our Faculty at all stages in their career.
