Mission & Vision


Fellows of the Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine

Specialists in public health medicine are trained in both clinical medicine and public health. They have the skills needed to understand and reduce the risks of disease, disability and death in both individuals and in population groups.
 

Faculty Vision Statement

Excellence in public health medicine, education and practice to achieve the highest levels of health for all people in Australia and New Zealand.


Faculty Mission Statement

To achieve a high standard of population health through the practice of public health medicine, the training and continuing professional development for members, the promotion of public debate on matters of public health importance and the encouragement of public health research.  

The aims of the Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine are to:

  • Promote study and advancement of knowledge in the field of public health medicine;
  • Promote and encourage high levels of skill and expertise and high ethical standards in the practice of public health medicine;
  • Raise and maintain the educational standards of medical graduates wishing to enter the field of public health medicine;
  • Act as an authoritative body for the purpose of consultation in matters of educational or public interest in connection with the field of public health medicine;
  • Foster collaboration with clinicians to advance knowledge in the field of public health medicine;
  • Encourage research in matters connected with the field of public health medicine.
