General Information Post FRACP Training Fellows who wish to undertake further advanced training after the award of FRACP may be supervised by an SAC/JSAC. This training, known as ‘post FRACP training’, is approved prospectively; accredited upon receipt of a satisfactory supervisor’s report, and supervised in the same way as pre FRACP training. Under no circumstances will post FRACP training be considered retrospectively if prospective approval of training was not sought. Documentation is identical. Deadlines for submission of application forms are the same as for pre FRACP training. Principles of post FRACP Training Post FRACP training is training in a second subspecialty. The length of post FRACP training is determined on an individual basis by an SAC/JSAC and is dependent on the relevance of previously prospectively approved pre FRACP training to the current training subspecialty. Post FRACP training does not normally include non core training, which has relevance only in advanced training programs leading to the award of FRACP. Training programs are assessed using the same criteria as for advanced training programs. Applications for approval of programs are received before the same deadlines as for pre FRACP training. They are considered prospectively and subsequently accredited if supervisor’s reports are satisfactory. Only previously approved satisfactorily completed and accredited advanced training, which also fulfils the requirement of the SAC/JSAC supervising post FRACP training, may be considered and retrospectively accepted towards completion of post FRACP training programs. A maximum of 2 years of retrospectively accepted training may be allowed. Fellows engaged in post FRACP training will work under supervision and not in a consultant role. Documenting Completion of Post FRACP Training Following satisfactory completion of a post FRACP training program, a letter will be provided to the Fellow documenting completion of training. It will be signed by the Chairman of the BOC on the recommendation of the SAC/JSAC. Trainees who are yet to complete pre FRACP training and intend to pursue post FRACP training in another subspecialty are asked to notify the Training Section of the College office in Australia or the College office in New Zealand (see Contacts page) of their intention before the completion of pre FRACP training. This will allow their documentation to be saved or transferred to the second SAC/JSAC for consideration. [ Table of Contents ] |
