Research
You must be involved in some form of research activity during advanced training. Evidence of participation in research activities includes participation in peer reviewed journals and presentation at scientific meetings, and will be sought at the completion of training.

Training Sites
Centres offering advanced training in paediatric haematology should have:
  • at least one full time staff haematologist;
  • opportunity for exposure to a full range of paediatric haematological disorders;
  • an active transfusion service;
  • a diagnostic service allowing exposure to coagulation, red cell morphological and automated haematology procedures;
  • access to library facilities and computer searches;
  • regular meetings at clinical and laboratory level to foster a climate of continuing education and enquiry.
At least one year of core training should be undertaken in a unit with an active bone marrow transplantation program.

Assessment
Projects in addition to research activities described above are not required for the training years supervised by the JSAC in Haematology, but will be required for the non core year and for any other years of training undertaken under the supervision of the CPPT.

  • Haematology Society of Australia and New Zealand (HSANZ);
  • Medical Oncology Group of Australia (MOGA);
  • Australian and New Zealand Children's Cancer Study Group (ANZCCSG); and
  • Society of Blood Transfusion (ASBT).
