Introduction
Respiratory medicine and sleep medicine are closely related areas of paediatrics. Supervision of trainees wishing to gain experience in respiratory medicine, sleep medicine or both, is by the SAC in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine. Consequently, any trainee who is considering a program in respiratory or sleep medicine (or both) is advised to read these guidelines in full.

It is strongly recommended that at least 3 months of core sleep medicine training is completed as part of the respiratory medicine training program.
