General Information Content of Basic Training - Australia Basic training includes 24 months of core training and up to 12 months of non core training. During either Basic or Advanced Training all trainees must undertake a 6 month period of Community and Child Health training (Mandatory Training). See Community and Child Health Requirements for Training - Australia. Core Training Core training is that which is undertaken in the paediatric disciplines and covers the areas considered as essential knowledge and experience for an intending physician. Of the 24 months:
Non Core Training Of the 12 months of non core training, up to 6 months can be spent in non paediatric medical terms. The DPPT may allow a combination of terms that include:
