Description
In your role as the Occupational Physician at QAL you will support the site’s health and wellness programs, recommending new initiatives and improvements. You will also be involved in various occupational health areas, including acute injury management, pre-employment medicals, regular health surveillance & rehabilitation and return to work processes.
Reporting to the Manager – Health & Safety, you will contribute to our Safe, Stable and Sustainable vision by:
- ensuring all work is performed in accordance with site health, environmental and community policies, systems and procedures
- providing clinical services as part of a multi-disciplinary Occupational Health team to support the delivery of the highest standard of care to employees
- performing physical examinations and providing diagnosis and treatment for all work associated illnesses and injuries
- advising on rehabilitation and return to work processes
- providing expert opinions on a range of medicolegal claims including Workers' Compensation
- liaising with the Occupational Hygiene Team to support the measurement of on-site exposures and development of management plans
- implementing and maintaining effective systems to actively manage health and safety hazards and risks while ensuring compliance with relevant Workplace Health & Safety legislation
- developing short- and long-term strategies and actions to continuously improve QAL’s performance in health and wellbeing
Essential qualifications
To be successfully considered for this role, you should have:
- formal qualifications in Occupational Health with demonstrated experience as a medical professional and a desire to provide the highest quality medical services
- a commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- strong knowledge of Workplace Health & Safety legislation and best practice
- demonstrated ability to lead a team of health professionals through effective communication, engagement and coaching
- experience within a heavy industry environment will be highly regarded
- meet all vaccination requirements for COVID-19 in accordance with the Queensland Health Directive for workers in a healthcare setting
