Description

A Medical Oncology advanced training position is available at the Launceston General Hospital, Launceston, Tasmania, in 2023. This position is accredited by the RACP for 12 months of medical oncology core training and is supported by a team of 6.4 FTE consultant medical oncologists, 1 BPT ward registrar and intern.

Work involves a mix of tertiary referral centre and outreach clinics in a multidisciplinary setting. Duties include:

  • assessment and management of ambulant medical oncology patients requiring treatment within the WP Holman Clinic outpatient facility, Launceston General Hospital
  • advising, mentoring and overseeing the work of junior medical staff assigned to the care of inpatient medical oncology patients at the Launceston General Hospital, including participation in the on-call roster with Consultant Support

The Northern Cancer Service provides comprehensive cancer care to the population of Northern/North West Tasmania (250,000 people). Treatment centres are located at the WP Holman Clinic, Launceston General Hospital, North West Regional Cancer Centre, Burnie, and the Mersey Community Hospital.
