AFPHM President's Awards for Outstanding Contribution

The President’s Awards for Outstanding Contribution acknowledge the extraordinary contributions made by Fellows and trainees to the Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine (AFPHM).

The RACP invites all AFPHM Fellows and Advanced Trainees to nominate a Fellow or trainee for these awards by detailing the contribution they have made to the Faculty in any of the following areas:

  • Education, Training and Assessment
  • Policy and Advocacy
  • Trainee Commitment

Closing date is ​30 ​January 2017.

Who is eligible?

Nominator

To nominate someone for these awards, you must be:

  • A current Fellow or Advanced Trainee of the AFPHM

Nominee

Nominees must be:

  • A registered Fellow or active trainee of the AFPHM
  • Aware of the nomination and that if selected as the recipient, they will be invited to attend the AFPHM President's Dinner

They must not:

  • Submit an application on their own behalf
  • Have received a President’s Award within the last three years

What is the prize?

Education, Training and Assessment

The recipient of the award will receive a Certificate, return economy airfares from home town to the 15th World Congress on Public Health in Melbourne, 3 - 7 April 2017 and attendance at the AFPHM President's Dinner for the formal presentation of the award.

Policy and Advocacy

The recipient of the award will receive a Certificate, return economy airfares from home town to the 15th World Congress on Public Health in Melbourne, 3 - 7 April 2017 and attendance at the AFPHM President's Dinner ​for the formal presentation of the award.

Trainee Commitment Award

The recipient of the award will receive a Certificate and return economy airfares from home town to the 15th World Congress on Public Health in Melbourne, 3 - 7 April 2017, full registration and accommodation for the night of the AFPHM President's Dinner in order to attend the formal presentation of the award.  

How do I nominate someone?

  1. Read the Terms & Conditions (Prizes) (PDF 62KB) for RACP awards and prizes
  2. Select a Fellow or trainee of AFPHM and detail the contribution they have made to the Faculty in any of the following areas:
    • Education, Training and Assessment – Fellows ​or trainees who have contributed significantly to AFPHM’s Education, Training and Assessment programs
    • Policy and Advocacy – Fellows ​or trainees who have contributed to AFPHM’s Policy and Advocacy processes
    • Trainee Commitment Award – trainees who have shown an outstanding commitment to AFPHM’s education and training program
  3. Notify your nominee of your intent to nominate them
  4. Submit the Nomination Form (PDF 123KB) and supporting documents in a single PDF document to foundation@racp.edu.au

Supporting documents (optional) include:

  • The curriculum vitae of the nominee
  • A maximum of two references
  • Up to two other pieces of supporting evidence  

What is the selection process?

  1. The Award Review Panel, consisting of the AFPHM President and two other Fellows, will judge the nominations
  2. The AFPHM will award a President’s Award for Outstanding Contribution in each of the following categories:
    • Education, Training and Assessment
    • Policy and Advocacy
    • Trainee Commitment
  3. The AFPHM may choose not to award the President’s Awards for Outstanding Contribution if it does not receive nominations that sufficiently meet the criteria.
