Description

The ATC oversees Advanced Training in Neurology in Australia.

The key responsibilities of the ATC are to:
  • monitor and assess individual trainee progress in Neurology
  • confirm completion of training requirements to progress to Fellowship
  • monitor training of, and provide support to, supervisors in Neurology
  • accredit Advanced Training sites or programs in Neurology
  • assess recognition of prior learning
  • monitor and review training program requirements, assessment and curricula in Neurology in consultation with the relevant specialty societies and other stakeholders, and recommend changes to the CEC
  • advise on assessment and resource content
  • advise on matters relating to OTP, as requested
  • provide advice on specialty specific CPD and other educational resources for members, as appropriate
  • modify training requirements for individual trainees, as appropriate, in accordance with College policies and procedures
  • assess and provide advice on specialist recognition in Neurology for Fellows in the Paediatric and Child Health Division who have not completed the Neurology Advanced Training program.

The role of the Paediatric Representative is to:

  • sign off for training approval/certification of Paediatric trainees
  • project marking
  • monitoring Paediatric trainees in support
  • review of individual parts of curriculum or assessment for Paediatrics

Meetings are held 2 times per year with 1 face-to-face meeting, usually held in November.  

Members are appointed to the ATC for a 3-year term and can be renewed for a further term.
