Summary

The Advanced Training Committee in Cardiology is seeking expressions of interest from cardiology physicians to join the Committee as the Queensland Representative and an Appointed Member.

Description

The Advanced Training Committee in Cardiology plays a key role in monitoring and evaluating the progress of cardiology trainees across Australia.

In this role, you'll help shape the physicians of the future and contribute to the direction, workforce, and culture of cardiology in Australia. This is a great opportunity for physicians who want to support current Cardiology Advanced Trainees and the training program.

You’ll review and monitor the training program requirements, assessments, and curricula with relevant specialty societies and stakeholders. You'll then recommend changes to the College Education Committee through the Adult Medicine Division Education Committee, Paediatrics Division Education Committee, or Faculty Education Committee.

Role responsibilities
  • liaising with heads of department to facilitate a smooth recruitment process for incoming Cardiology trainees
  • monitoring training and provide support to supervisors in Cardiology
  • accrediting advanced training sites or programs in Cardiology
  • assessing recognition of prior learning
  • provide guidance on matters related to Overseas Trained Physicians, as needed
  • adjusting individual training requirements as needed, following College policies and guidelines
  • evaluating and advising on specialist recognition in Cardiology for Fellows in the Paediatric and Child Health Division or the Adult Medicine Division who haven't completed the Cardiology Advanced Training program

The committee meets 4 times a year, with 1 in-person meeting typically held in November.

Members are appointed for a 3-year term, which can be extended for another term.
