Description

The College and the Advanced Training Committee (ATC) in General Paediatrics are responsible for ensuring that training in Australia is undertaken in accredited training settings.

There is 1 vacant position for a Fellow of the Paediatrics & Child Health Division to join the Subcommittee who is interested in contributing towards discussions and the decision-making process on the Accreditation of settings for the Advanced Training in General Paediatrics Training Program.

The accreditation of training settings for training in Paediatrics & Child Health is an essential activity that ensures high quality training environments for tomorrow’s physicians. 

As a Member of the Subcommittee, the following commitment is required:

  • Attending at least 4 Subcommittee meetings a year, one of which will be conducted face-to-face at the RACP Sydney Office.  
  • Reading time for agendas and papers, delivered approximately 2 weeks before each Subcommittee meeting.
  • Work collaboratively with all accreditation accreditors and leads, relevant education committees within the College and Specialty Societies to ensure the standardisation of accreditation policy and process is upheld.
  • Flexibility and a willingness to support the accreditation of training settings delivering the Advanced Training in General Paediatrics Training Program through site visits and videoconferences. Some site visits will require travel to and from the setting, with any costs covered by the RACP (refer to the RACP Travel Policy and Guidelines (PDF) for further details).
  • Monitor, review, interpret and enforce accreditation criteria recommending minor program and policy change to the Advanced Training Committees as applicable, in consultation with the relevant Specialty Society and education committees within the College.
  • Monitor, review, interpret and enforce accreditation criteria recommending any program and policy change to the College Education Committee (CEC) as the peak educational body of the College, in consultation with the relevant Specialty Society and education committees within the College for decisions.

Members are appointed for an initial 3-year term with the option to renew for a further 3-year term.

The role of Subcommittee members is voluntary. To support and thank you for your contributions towards accreditation, you will receive CPD points for completed activities. All relevant travel, meals and accommodation costs for attending face-to-face Subcommittee meetings and any site visits are covered by the College in accordance with the RACP Travel Policy and Guidelines (PDF).
