In accordance with our Gender Equity in Medicine and Membership Diversity principles, we actively promote and encourage diverse representation in all College activities.
The Committee identifies emerging policy issues specific to Aotearoa New Zealand and develops policy and advocacy responses to government and health sector stakeholders including submissions, endorsements, media releases and election statements.
The Aotearoa NZ PAC is the engine room for the RACP’s policy and advocacy activities in Aotearoa New Zealand.
The Committee is currently seeking a Māori representative who can bring Kaupapa Māori perspectives supporting equity and improved Māori health outcomes.
Members of Aotearoa NZ PAC are drawn from across the Divisions, Faculties and Chapters, including Trainees, and are all passionate about health policy, systems, the social determinants of health, and equitable outcomes for our communities, particularly tangata whenua.
The Chair of Aotearoa NZ PAC is also a member of the Aotearoa New Zealand Committee and has links with the College Policy and Advocacy Council (the trans-Tasman peak body for policy and advocacy in the RACP).
The Committee meets up to 5 times per year with 1 kanohi ki te knaohi | face to face meeting in Te Whanganui-a-Tara | Wellington and up to four Zoom meetings, including some informal drop-in sessions. Travels costs are covered in accordance with the RACP Travel Policy and Guidelines. The remainder of the meetings are hui-ā-ataata | via Zoom.
