Description

Fellows from the Adult Medicine Division and Fellows from the Australasian Chapter of Addiction Medicine, the Australasian Chapter of Palliative Medicine or the Australasian Chapter of Sexual Health Medicine in Australia are invited to express their interest in joining the OTP Assessment Subcommittee, Adult Medicine & Chapters.

Applications from the following specialties are encouraged:

  • Cardiology
  • Rheumatology
  • Haematology 

The OTP Assessment Subcommittee plays a key role in the assessment of OTPs by determining which physicians can work in Australia. Members of the Subcommittee have a real impact on health service delivery and quality of care in the Australian health system.

Key responsibilities

  • interviewing OTPs to understand their overseas qualifications, training and experience.
  • determining, and sometimes modifying, requirements for OTPs to reach the level of an Australian-trained physician in accordance with guidelines and policies set by the Medical Board of Australia (MBA) and RACP.
  • providing expertise relating to OTP assessment to the MBA, College staff and other College Committees as needed
  • monitoring OTP progress through to Fellowship.
  • advising the OTP Team on key initiatives, projects and educational developments as needed

The Subcommittee meets every last Tuesday of the month, up to12 times per year. Meetings are held via videoconference with 1 face-to-face meeting per year, usually held in Sydney.

On average, active Subcommittee members spend up to 1 hour per week on OTP assessment activities. However, we will work around your availability and capacity.

The Subcommittee is seeking to appoint 2 new members who are registered to practice in the Adult Medicine Division and/or in the Australasian Chapter of Addiction Medicine, the Australasian Chapter of Palliative Medicine or the Australasian Chapter of Sexual Health Medicine.

The members will be appointed for an initial 3-year term.
