In accordance with our Gender Equity in Medicine and Membership Diversity principles, we actively promote and encourage diverse representation in all College activities.
The College and the Adult Internal Medicine and Paediatrics & Child Health Basic Training Committees are responsible for ensuring that all training in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand is undertaken in accredited training settings.
The accreditation of settings and the Basic Training Program is an essential activity that ensures high quality training environments for tomorrow’s physicians.
This year there are a number of settings that require an accreditation visit. As a RACP Accreditor – Trainee Representative, you will assist with local and/or interstate visits based on your availability and conflict of interest.
Visits will take approximately 5 hours. All visits will adhere with local COVID-19 public health orders and restrictions. Virtual visits via videoconference will be conducted if needed.
Travel costs and expenses incurred will be covered by the College as outlined in the RACP Travel Policy and Guidelines (PDF).
RACP Accreditors – Trainee Representatives report to the College Accreditation Subcommittee of the Basic Training Adult Internal Medicine and Paediatrics & Child Health Divisions.
For training and mentoring purposes, all RACP Accreditors – Trainee Representatives will be required to complete and attend 2 accreditation site visits (virtually) as ‘observer’ prior to allocation to panels as a RACP Accreditor – Trainee Representative.
Once observations are completed, the RACP Accreditor – Trainee Representative will ideally complete at least one accreditation site visit per year to remain on the accreditor pool list (flexibility provided as subject to accreditation schedule and trainee availability).
The College will maintain a flexible approach in trainee involvement. If necessary, attendance confirmation letters can be provided to support any leave taken by trainees from their employment to attend accreditation activities.
Training sessions will also be provided by the College for RACP Accreditors – Trainee Representatives including an overview of the new accreditation program and site visit logistics.
To be eligible for the role, you must:
To apply, submit an expression of interest form (DOC) and your CV to accreditation@racp.edu.au (Australia) or accreditation@racp.org.nz (Aotearoa New Zealand).
