Intercultural learning modules
The RACP collaborated with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) to develop six interactive eLearning modules on recognising one’s own and others’ cultural expectations.
Professional development in these areas will lead to a better understanding of the behaviour and expectations of patients from diverse backgrounds, including race, ethnicity, nationality, class, gender and sexuality, resulting in improvements in clinical care.
These modules focus on intercultural communication, the links between values, beliefs and behaviours and strategizing skills for cultural adaptation. They compliment the Australian Aboriginal Child Health and Cultural Competency program.
Participation in these activities can be claimed in the MyCPD program under Category 3: Self Assessment Programs at 2 credits per hour.
This Project has been funded by the Department of Health and Ageing under the Rural Health Continuing Education Sub-program (RHCE) Stream One which is managed by the Committee of Presidents of Medical Colleges.
