Diagnostic Error and Cultural Responsiveness are the focus of two Qstream courses RACP Members can register to undertake throughout November and December.

Diagnostic Error course details

The course will: 

  • enhance understanding of decision making during diagnosis in complex environments
  • increase knowledge of potential system and cognitive factors that can impact accurate diagnostic decision making
  • advise how to identify, learn from and reduce diagnostic errors.

Cultural Responsiveness course details

The course will:

  • encourage self-reflection on core cultural values and improve understanding of implicit bias in patient interactions
  • provide resources, tools and a framework to enhance cultural responsiveness in practice
  • ·offer knowledge to assess patients’ language needs and work more effectively with interpreters.

How the courses are delivered

The courses are delivered as part of the RACP Online Professionalism Program via Qstream, a spaced learning platform.

Participants are emailed case studies, based on real-life clinical scenarios, at spaced intervals. The case studies are designed with the aim of challenging physician thinking and enhancing professional practice.

The courses will run throughout November and December and take as little as five minutes a day, two to three times a week to complete via email. 

Places are limited.

Registrations close on Friday, 26 October 2018 and RACP Fellows can earn Continuing Professional Development credits for undertaking the course.
