For the chance to present their research at RACP Congress 2019, trainees are invited to submit abstracts for oral presentation as part of the Trainee Research Awards.

The awards are offered for the best presentations made at regional events in Australian states, territories and New Zealand from October 2018. They recognise excellence in research in the fields of paediatric and adult medicine and are open to trainees from all Divisions, Faculties and Chapters. Previous RACP Trainee Research Award winners

Regional representatives from both categories will be chosen to attend and present at RACP Congress 2019 in Auckland, New Zealand. They will receive return economy airfares, complementary registration and three nights’ accommodation to support their attendance. They will also be invited to have their winning abstracts published in the Internal Medicine Journal (IMJ) and Journal of Paediatric and Child Health (JPCH).

Closing dates for abstract submissions vary in different states and territories. A list of closing dates is on the RACP website.

Doctor Katrina Hannan was a 2017 Victorian recipient of a Trainee Research Award for excellence in the field of paediatric medicine. She attended RACP Congress 2018.

“Having the opportunity to develop a presentation and deliver the presentation in this setting has been great for my personal experience and confidence with research presentations,” she said.

“I am very pleased that I have received extra recognition for the extensive work I put into my project, and that I have something tangible to show for it above and beyond a pass.”
