Accreditation FAQs for Employers

Why do we need accredited training positions?

As an Australian Medical Council accredited provider, the Australasian Faculty of Occupational and Environmental Medicine requires that all training is undertaken in accredited training settings; the Occupational and Environmental Training Program also requires all trainees to be in accredited positions.

What are the benefits of accreditation?

Accreditation of a training setting ensures that trainees have access to quality supervision during training, the opportunity to improve on clinical skills and knowledge, and continuing education and research opportunities. The training standards that an employer is required to adhere to ensure:

  • an appropriate learning environment and culture for trainees
  • high quality management of training
  • skilled supervisors that are supported in their teaching role
  • a supported training experience for trainees
  • alignment of curricula to training, with sufficient training resources, a high level of supervision, and effective feedback.

Who is responsible for completing the Accreditation Form?

Employers are required to complete the Accreditation Assessment Form.

Does the form need to be completed electronically?

Yes, the Accreditation Assessment Form has to be completed electronically and returned to Site Accreditation Unit via email (accreditation@racp.edu.au). Please refer to the instructions on the Accreditation Assessment Form for more details.
