Description

The Unaccredited Cardiology Registrar will contribute to inpatient care and diagnostic cardiology services under the care and direction of the attending Cardiologists to ensure a high quality service. They will take a multidisciplinary, collaborative team approach to optimise support to patients and colleagues, and will undertake administrative and research duties where appropriate.

Responsibilities 

  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with nursing staff, senior medical staff and other relevant staff on ward or in clinics.
  • Daily review of inpatients admitted under the cardiology team.
  • Communicate with and liaising between Senior and Junior medical staff and other members of the team involved in patient care.
  • Plan and organise the structured discharge of each patient and ensuring appropriate communication with other treating doctors.
  • Ability to appropriately order and interpret radiology/pathology/diagnostic cardiology results.
  • Assessment of acute inpatient cardiology referrals and discussion with the attending Cardiologist.
  • Attend one cardiology outpatient clinic per week.
  • Supervision and reporting of cardiology investigations in the Clinical Diagnostic Unit:
    • 12-lead ECGs
    • Ambulatory blood pressure monitors
    • Holter monitors
    • Exercise stress ECG testing
  • Assist with transthoracic echocardiography, exercise stress echocardiography, agitated saline contrast studies, transoesophageal echocardiography, direct current cardioversion, pacing clinics.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance and Research projects.
  • Supervise and teach Hospital Medical Officers and Medical Students.
  • Active involvement in Cardiology education.
  • Contribute to Cardiology presentations at Grand Rounds and other hospital meetings as required.
  • Provide input to Policies, Procedures, Guidelines and other administrative processes.
  • Understand and fulfill the documentation requirements of GV Health documentation policy and procedure.

  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a Medical Practitioner

  • Satisfactory National History Criminal Check prior to commencement of employment

  • Completion of a Commonwealth
