Training to be a physician
As you train to be a specialist physician, membership gives you access to important resources such as:

My Work Profile is a longitudinal and authoritative data set describing the specialist physician workforce in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. If you're overseas, you've got no obligation to participate at this time.
By completing your My Work Profile, you'll help support our advocacy activities and inform future workforce planning by policymakers, including national and state governments.
While it's not compulsory to complete a profile, the accuracy of this database depends on the number of Fellows that participate.
We listened to your feedback and simplified the questionnaire this year. It should take 5 minutes to complete.

Why we're collecting this data
Many government decisions on the workforce are based on anecdotal data. The data collected from My Work Profile will enable the College to update its records and help policymakers (such as governments and universities) make informed workforce decisions.
How My Work Profile benefits you
The results will be made available to our members and will help you:
- choose between private or public practice
- find out which geographic area to work in Australia and New Zealand
- understand how your work hours compare with your peers
- understand the activities you're undertaking research, administration, or clinical
Updating your My Work Profile
We only ask you to update your My Work Profile once a year, however, you can update it at any time, via MyRACP, if your circumstances change.
Data collection and anonymity
The College will provide aggregated and anonymised data to stakeholders, including our members. The data you enter will be stored in a secure data facility.

Fellowship to the RACP is offered by invitation to trainees and Overseas Trained Physicians who meet the requirements under the College Constitution.
The RACP Honorary Fellowship is awarded to renowned and acclaimed members of the medical profession. The 2020 recipients were Dr Tane Taylor and Professor Russell Vinder.

Member Statistics and Insights Report
The report provides membership data across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand, from high level to considerable detail by:
- Division, Faculty and Chapter
- physician career stage
- regional distribution in both countries
- international membership
- demographics like age, gender distribution and members who identify as either Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, and Māori.
The report also identifies trends in cohort growth, emphasising the rapidly changing nature of our membership.

Deed of Indemnity
College members who act in a voluntary capacity at the request of the College can obtain a Deed of Indemnity and explanatory letter from the Company Secretary and General Counsel upon request.

Membership is defined in the Constitution of the RACP (PDF) under clause 2. A member can be a Fellow, an Honorary Fellow or a trainee. Other classes of membership can be issued in accordance with the rights and privileges outlined in the By-laws.
