Our members contribute extensive knowledge across more than 33 different specialties to advocate on behalf of their patients and communities.

Our Fellows and trainees care passionately about their profession and the people they treat. With the input of our members, we:

• develop position statements, policy documents and strategies backed by scientific evidence to contribute to public debate on key healthcare issues
• make submissions to a wide range of public health inquiries
• maintain ongoing high-level relationships with a wide range of key stakeholders across the healthcare sector, the medical professions, state and Federal Government in Australia and national Government in Aotearoa New Zealand
• proactively speak out in the media on behalf of patients, physicians and paediatricians on topical and relevant healthcare issues
• publicly campaign on key issues through the media, social media, events and engagement with the community and decision makers.

Creating equitable and healthier communities

The College Policy and Advocacy Council Plan 2022–2026 (PDF) was developed with input from members through consultation, surveys and interviews. This process also lead to a Priorities and Principles diagram (PDF) that reflects key policy priorities of our membership.
