Represent your profession

If you're an RACP member with a passionate interest in policy and advocacy, we want to hear from you.

Policy development

The College Policy & Advocacy Council (CPAC) meet twice a year to develop our broad strategic priorities.

The CPAC Executive Committee undertake weekly rapid decision-making on cross-College policy and advocacy matters and approve policies before publishing.

All activities are aligned with our P&A priorities, CPAC Plan 2022-26 (PDF), CPAC Guiding Principles (PDF), annual work plans, and emergent health policy matters.

If published policies relate to a topical public issue, we may host launch events.

Full RACP policy documents, led by dedicated member working groups, are the result of months of detailed peer reviewed research and literature reviews. This ensures the statements encompass global best-practice and follow cross-RACP consultation, adding member perspective and expertise.

Join the Policy & Advocacy Interest Group (PAIG) | open access

The PAIG is a vibrant and diverse cohort of Fellows and trainees who contribute to the RACP's policy and advocacy work on topics aligned with their interests, at times that fit their busy schedule.

Joining the PAIG allows you to:

  • contribute to the development of influential and widely publicised RACP position statements, policies and submissions
  • advocate these through your networks and communities
  • be the voice of your profession and a respected medical college at key events and meetings
  • participate in active and highly publicised advocacy campaigns

To join, complete the Policy & Advocacy Interest Group form (MS form).

Join the Policy & Advocacy Advisory Group (PAAG) | expression of interest

The PAAG is a key College body providing expert advice and input on health policy and advocacy matters like consultations, submissions, media releases, letters and other outputs aligned with the CPAC Plan 2022-26 (PDF) and any emergent matters of importance to the College.

A high level of matters progress throughout the year that PAAG members are asked to contribute their expertise.

There are no scheduled meetings for the PAAG. Members are emailed requests for advice and input. Feedback is compiled to inform the College’s policy and advocacy activities and reported to the College Policy & Advocacy Council

An application and selection process is required to appoint members.

Policy streams open for applications are:

  • aged care
  • climate change and health
  • disability
  • e-cigarettes
  • health reform
  • obesity
  • refugee and asylum seeker health

To apply, submit an expression of interest form (MS form), addressing the selection criteria relevant to the policy stream/s you're interested in, and your CV to cpac@racp.edu.au
